Stobi’s importance stems from the strategic position in an old Roman trading course — a street that led from the Danube River (Serbia) all the way down to the Aegean Sea (Greece). It became an important trading hub, Since Stobi was located along this street. The presence of basilicas and mosaics that are spiritual demonstrate that the early city of Stobi was an early Christian city. There is not any stronger proof of this than in the baptisterium. Other ruins to see include the Roman theater and Roman forum.
The Historical city of Stobi is open daily 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is 120 Macedonian Denar.
